Newly-ordained Father Salvador Rego celebrated a special Mass for family and friends in Rome on Sunday, April 30. It is a tradition that a new priest celebrate a First Solemn Mass the day after his ordination.
In this case, it took place in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of the Basilica of Saint Apolinar at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, where he is finishing a doctorate in Theology.
Fr. Juan Rego, vice-rector of the Basilica assisted his older brother at this Mass. It was attended by many members of the Rego family along with a few Canadian families that were in Rome for the ordination. Fr. Salvador Rego is a Canadian engineer with a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and years of work experience in Ottawa and Toronto.
